Third workshop, Djerba, Tunisia, From December 20 to December 25, 2025.
From 20 to 26 December 2025, a third workshop was held on the Tunisian island of Djerba. Participants included the project coordinator Fayçal Hamouda, lecturers from the Tunisian partner universities, as well as Tunisian and German students. Alongside students who had already been involved in the project, new participants also joined the workshop and will continue contributing to the project.
At the beginning of the workshop, the project’s progress to date was jointly reviewed. Existing working processes were critically reflected upon, and discussions focused on identifying areas in which improvements were necessary or beneficial. On this basis, the next steps for the further development of the project were defined. In addition, new video concepts were developed addressing the topics of Multiculturalism, Multiperspectivity, Sharia, Democracy, Nationalism, Family, and Allahu Akbar.
Another key focus of the workshop was the review of the previous workshops. Working in groups, participants prepared reports for the project website and collaborated on translating the texts. The translation work was carried out in three languages—Arabic, English, and German—and was coordinated collectively to ensure both linguistic accuracy and consistency of content. Furthermore, the website was reviewed and revised more broadly, with attention given to both content-related additions and structural improvements.
To ensure visual and formal coherence across the project, a standardized intro and outro for all videos were developed and agreed upon.
In addition to the academic work, cultural activities were organized, including visits to the old town of Houmt Souk, Djerbahood and the El Ghriba Synagogue.
